“Khan Academy” Armenia
Since July 1, 2017, “Renaissance” cultural and intellectual foundation, in cooperation with “Ayb” educational foundation, has been working in the way of creating and developing the Armenian version of the world-famous online educational platform “Khan Academy“. The project’s aim is to translate sections of mathematics, science and art, as well as create a video series with the topic of Armenian grammar.
Khan Academy is a non-profit organization with an aim to provide free, world-class education to anyone, anywhere. Khan Academy offers practice exercises, instructional videos, and a personalized learning dashboard that empower learners to study at their own pace in and outside of the classroom. The web-site studies math, science, computer programming, history, art history, economics, and more. Mathematics section provides a guide for learners from kindergarten to calculus using state-of-the-art, adaptive technology that identifies strengths and learning gaps. Khan Academy partners with institutions like NASA, The Museum of Modern Art, The California Academy of Sciences, and MIT to offer specialized content.
Armenian Khan Academy’s web-site (hy.khanacademy.org) is still in a draft version, but a lot of videos, on topic of mathematics for students from kindergarten age to 4th grade, are already available. The web-page will be available not only for students, but also for use of teachers and parents. It is being translated, developed and shared with help of dozens of volunteers from Yerevan and other regions of Armenia, studying at universities or schools. In the first 6 months of the foundation’s existence, the volunteers have already had a huge input in translating and editing of the materials. 19.995 videos were made by these volunteers on topics of art history, chemistry, basic mathematics, algebra and geometry.
