The Morning Show of Armenia TV recently welcomed representatives from the “Renaissance” Foundation, including TV anchor Artur Bakhtamyan and prominent artist Tovmas Poghosyan. During the show, they provided insights into the TV concert titled “Songs from the National Musical Treasury,” which aired on TV.
Initiated by the “Renaissance” Foundation, the “Armenian National Music Treasury” has meticulously curated digital passports for hundreds of Armenian folk, spiritual, and choral compositions, complete with sheet music, instrumentation, and recordings.
With its captivating allure, the Armenian musical treasury showcases performances that transcend time, serving as a testament to Armenian identity. Armenia TV and the “Renaissance” Foundation collaborated to present an exclusive concert, showcasing these remarkable musical pieces. Artur Bakhtamyan, the Foundation’s spokesperson, emphasized the project’s significance across generations, stating, “The Foundation’s mission extends beyond presentation. By notating and sharing musical works on our website, we aim to facilitate access for Armenian and international researchers.”
The creation of the Armenian musical treasury stands as one of the “Renaissance” Foundation’s most ambitious projects to date. Over several years, top experts in the field recorded and re-recorded Armenian folk, church, and instrumental music. The TV concert featured 10 selected compositions, performed by Tovmas Poghosyan and the esteemed “Sayat-Nova” ensemble. Poghosyan highlighted that many of these songs were premiered during the concert, underscoring the ensemble’s commitment to uncovering and preserving ancient and lesser-known musical treasures.
Recordings from the “Songs from the National Musical Treasury” project are available in their entirety on the foundation’s website and YouTube channel, ensuring widespread access to these invaluable cultural assets.
