With the support of the Renaissance Foundation, Newmag Publishing House donated 500 books to the Aparan Zarzand Daryan Library.
Gagik Khachatryan, Head of the Department of Education, Culture, Sports, Youth and Social Affairs of the Aparan Municipality, thanked Newmag and the Renaissance Foundation for enriching the city with valuable literature.
“Newmag carries out quite serious translation activities, delivering world-famous and modern literature in Armenian to the Armenian society. I urge our esteemed Aparan residents to read these books and find the works of their heart and soul.”
Newmag CEO Artak Aleksanyan noted that the program has different benefactors each time, and that the benefactor of this initiative in Aparan is the Renaissance Foundation, represented by its founder Artur Janibekyan, a native of Aparan.
“That is why Mr. Janibekyan wanted these books to be in his native community. We have carefully selected books that will definitely be useful, from children’s literature to fiction and non-fiction, professional and non-professional, as well as entertainment.”
According to Library Director Anahit Mnatsakanyan, the patriotic work of Newmag and the Renaissance Foundation is invaluable.
“We replenish the library with the annual cut, but this is not enough to ensure a flow of new readers, and to solve this problem, we have been joined by the Newmag Publishing House and the “Renaissance” Foundation. Today, the Newmag Publishing House and the “Renaissance” Foundation are here. According to him, the book is one of the most important links of civilization, and all the changes taking place in society today also have their impact on libraries.”
Requirements and preferences have changed; new interests and new programs have emerged. Yet alongside all this, contact with the book remains essential. According to Newmag Editor-in-Chief Gnel Nalbandyan, what is happening around us is a direct consequence of not reading books, not understanding or misunderstanding what you read, turning the entire civilization upside down or hiding the history and civilization of Armenia.
“That’s why you should read books, on the advice of specialists, librarians. These are very expensive books, it is very difficult for many to buy them in bookstores, but today we have the opportunity to take them from libraries and deliver them to regional readers.”
