Newmag Publishing House has been implementing a unique initiative for a year: donating new and modern books to community libraries. The goal of the program is to support local communities and enrich library collections with contemporary literature.
According to Artak Aleksanyan, Head of Newmag, several libraries will receive new and modern books through this program.
“During this time, communities have tried to replenish their libraries to the best of their abilities. We decided to initiate this program, whose goal is to make the updating of community library collections part of corporate social responsibility packages of private companies and foundations. I hope that the books will be useful to readers,” Aleksanyan said.
The “Renaissance” Foundation has also joined the initiative, and in the near future, multiple libraries will be replenished with 500 books each. The program began with the Vayk Community Library, a choice that is far from accidental, notes Hakob Hakobyan, Director of the foundation: the founder, Artur Janibekyan, lived in Vayk for several years and attended the same cultural house where the book donation ceremony took place.
“This is an important initiative for our founder, Artur Janibekyan, and it was his wish that we start the series of book donations from the Vayk Community Library. Reading is very important for imagining, dreaming, realizing your dreams and the dreams of others. I understood this when I read The Mysterious Island. The main symbol of my success is the book itself. I am convinced that the lives of thousands of children, adolescents, and young people who visit the library will change, as mine did. We are also grateful to Newmag for the idea of such an important initiative,” Hakobyan said.
The Vayk Community Library currently serves 500 adult subscribers and 250 children.
Guests were welcomed at the library by students from the local cultural house, and certificates of appreciation were presented to the “Renaissance” Foundation and Newmag Publishing House at the conclusion of the ceremony.
