Modern books and bestsellers will now also be available in the libraries of several communities in the Ashtarak region. This is part of the book donation initiative of Newmag Publishing House, which the “Renaissance” Foundation has joined. In the near future, with the support of the foundation, libraries in a number of Armenian communities will also be replenished with new books.
Hakob Hakobyan, director of the “Renaissance” Foundation, emphasizing the importance of the initiative, noted that one book can change a life.
“I was born and raised in the village of Nor Yerznka, and when choosing which communities we can donate books to, I also played a small role. I attach great importance to this initiative. I am very happy that we will have our contribution in these communities to spread reading.
If even one child, one teenager, one young person approaches a book thanks to this wonderful initiative of Newmag, we can consider everything wonderful. I was very happy when I learned that thanks to this initiative, new readers are increasing. I want to be sure that there is really a need for it, and that these books will not appear in the library and remain on the shelves.”
This is the second book donation carried out with the support of the “Renaissance” Foundation. According to Ani Hakobyan, Head of Literary Programs at Newmag Publishing House, the joint initiative with the foundation will soon reach three more community libraries.
“We assure you that these books are selected and compiled with care. Our editors, designers and proofreaders work very long and meticulously on each book. We hope that this will be noticed and appreciated, and a new culture of reading will be formed in these communities.”
During the event, students of the Ayvazyan Music School and the dance group of the Parpi community also performed for the guests.
At the end of the program, the Ashtarak Municipality and the Ashtarak Palace of Culture presented certificates of appreciation to Newmag Publishing House and the “Renaissance” Foundation.
